Radioactive HPLC Detection

Radioactive High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) detection – online measurement of radioactivity in HPLC eluates – has gained wide acceptance for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of radioisotopic biological samples, replacing fraction collection and discrete sample counting, and offering real-time results and high resolution. Detection of radioisotopic samples separated by liquid chromatography can be optimized using state-of-the-art liquid scintillation counting techniques in a flow scintillation analyser, (FSA), also known as a radioactive monitor or radioactive flow detector.

Radioactive TLC Detection

The major limitation to the use of thin-layer chromatography (TLC) is that a suitable method of detection must be available; however, this limitation is removed when the compounds of interest are radiolabelled. Early methods of quantifying the distribution of radioactivity whilst still maintaining good resolution were time-consuming or labour-intensive, or yielded low resolution results. However, detection instruments have greatly improved over the years.
